Description
Like the checkered “You are Loved” sign, this one did not do what I had in mind. Is this a common occurrence among artists or just among new artists? During the creation process of this piece, I learned some interesting techniques. One specifically that I ended up really liking was using the heat gun to rapidly dry the top layer of the paint before scraping it off to reveal the mesh of colors beneath. I started using the heat gun because I thought the piece was ruined, so I figured I would test a few techniques. When I removed the dried paint, there was such a neat marbling of colors that I kept it. The process of trying different techniques is also symbolic of this piece, so that is another reason I want to put it out there. I don’t always remove the small smudges of paint from where I mess up. In the case of this piece, I realized my fingerprint was left in one of those smudges! I didn’t see it until I had a bright light on it and I was taking pictures.
Like the other “You Are Loved” pieces, I work with you to attach a QR code that leads to a recording that says, “You are loved” or something similar. Let this piece act as a memento of love. Who would you tell, “You are loved?”
